Among the instructions given to the our editorial board was not to take the news announced on April 1st seriously because it did not want to be a victim of April's Fool. Among those announced that day was the ASUS ROG Ally, a portable console seen as a competitor to the Steam Deck.
But it seems that this joke has become serious because this product really exists and is being developed by ASUS. Several major YouTube channels have gotten early access to ROG Ally and it's clearly working. ROG Ally's full specs are still under wraps but ASUS says it's more powerful than the Steam Deck.
It uses the Windows 11 operating system with a screen that supports FHD 120Hz resolution. There are four shoulder buttons and two additional control buttons on the back. The two analog sticks in front are equipped with colorful RGB lights. This is paired with a D-Pad button and four dashboard buttons that use the X-Box configuration. This is not surprising since ROG Ally is designed to support PC Game Pass.
When it will be sold and the price is still a mystery. Most likely will only be known around the launch of the ROG Phone 7 later or Computex in May.
