After the United States, UK, India, New Zealand, and France banned the installation of TikTok on the devices of civil servants, now it is Australia's turn to take the same step. Through this latest directive, all Five Eyes allied countries now ban this app from China on the devices of civil servants.
With TikTok accused of collecting user data and posing a security risk, a ban on this official use work device was introduced. TikTok issued a statement regretting the actions taken by the Australian government. They have also repeatedly denied any accusations that they are spying on behalf of China.
In the United States, TikTok faces being banned if the company is not sold by Bytedance. The Chinese government has already insisted that it will not allow the application to be sold because it says that the algorithms used belong to China and cannot be sold without permission.
