The Ministry of Economy and MOSTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation) today introduced the INNOVATHON program, which is a reality TV program that will focus on providing opportunities for Malaysians to generate and develop innovative ideas that can be commercialized.
INNOVATHON will focus on digital products and technology, through a hackathon format.
The reality TV series will air in June 2023 for ten weeks, and is broadcast in collaboration with ASTRO. This series will also display the behind-the-scenes digital product development process from the idea stage to prototype production.
Each selected weekly winner will also go to the final stage and be given seed capital to build a digital product prototype for the purpose of the final stage demonstration.
The final stage winners will be given capital to start their startup companies with the guidance of government agencies and private strategic investors. The government will allocate a total of RM1 million for the purpose of basic capital and initial capital to the winners.
This INNOVATHON participation is open to all Malaysians regardless of background and age limit.
