Intel Ends Software Updates For Intel Skylake Processing Series Built-in Graphics Chips

The 6th generation Skylake series of processing chips comes with a 9th generation built-in graphics processing chip (iGPU) which is seen to be quite useful especially for powering displays using low power.

Recently, Intel has confirmed that this series of built-in graphics processing chips will no longer be updated, meaning that they have entered the end of life phase and will no longer be repaired, unless there are really serious security issues that need to be patched.

Intel's Skylake processor chips were launched around 2015, and after eight years, Intel seems to be starting to end support for these chips. In fact, this is not surprising especially when Intel is seen also stopping day-0 updates which means that it will not receive updates for software such as video games and operating systems on launch day.

The difference is that software updates will still be available for those components, but for the graphics chips present on Skylake series CPUs, they will no longer be updated after this.
