Intel will stop production of Blockscale chips used for crypto mining. The chip, which was just launched last year, is no longer in production due to declining demand for crypto mining.
They will stop orders for this chip on October 20th with production to stop completely by April 20th 2024. The focus will now be on investing into their IDM 2.0 which also means they will no longer be involved in modem chip production this year. Intel's modem production business has already been sold to MediaTek.
With crypto-demonstration already on the decline since the fall in the value of several cryptocurrencies, Intel's actions are in line with what other companies such as NVIDIA have done.
