Magpie Aviation Wants To Extend Electric Aircraft Flight With Tow System

Electric airplanes have been successfully produced but the distance they can travel is still shorter compared to airplanes with jet engines. The batteries used today are still too heavy and have low power density. Magpie Aviation tried to solve this issue by using a tow plane system.

An electric passenger plane will take flight from an airport. Once in the air, a pilotless tow plane will tow the passenger plane to its destination. With this the passenger plane does not need to use its battery power as long as it is towed. Through the alternate towing aircraft system, the electric aircraft with passengers can fly to further destinations.

According to Magpie Aviation, this system in the future can function autonomously and automatically without the need for human control. An idea that is unique because it is different from others. Aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus are trying to solve the short-haul flight problem by developing hydrogen fuel cell technology.
