Midjourney ended their free image generating access last week to prevent fake images from being produced. This was done after demand increased and a fake image of Pope Francis wearing an expensive jacket went viral on social media. Now Midjourney is also encouraging users to generate images of President Xi Jinping.
If the prom "President Xi" is entered into the image generation box, a notification will be given to the user that this phrase is no longer allowed. If users attempt to bypass this barrier, they may be banned from continuing to use Midjourney. This action taken is quite strange because Midjourney is not accessible in China. This is not the first time certain proms and phrases have been banned.
A few weeks ago the "Donald Trump" prom was blocked after a fake image of him was caught viral on social media. The user who produced the image has been banned from the platform. So far only these two VIPs have been banned with the generation of images of other heads of state still allowed.
