MIS confirmed that they had been hacked this week. In the attack, their information technology system was accessed source code, BIOS firmware, private key and various important information belonging to MSI amounting to 1.5 TB was successfully stolen.
Hackers are asking for a ransom of $4 million if they don't want all these stolen files to be leaked online which will have a negative impact on users of MSI products. Steps to restore the system have been done by MSI. As a precaution, MSI reminds people not to download software for their products from third parties.
