NearDrop Enables MacBooks to Receive Android Device Files Via Nearby Share

Transferring files between Windows and Android devices is now easier as Nearby Share has been introduced for Windows. Before it was only limited to ChromeBook devices only. Nearby Share allows users to easily transfer multiple files or one large file wirelessly.

Recently an independent developer developed NearDrop which is Nearby Share for macOS. NearDrop is developed and made as an open source project.

This application however has limited use as a Mac device can only be a receiver and cannot send. The second drawback is that both Mac and Android devices must use the same WiFi connection.

The advantage of this application is that users do not need a Google account to use it. Just find the file in the Android device you want to send and send it via Nearby Share. This NearDrop application is also not offered through the App Store so any risk is your own responsibility.
