Netflix Invests $2.5 Billion In South Korea To Release Original Movies And TV Series

 


The content of K-Drama and movies from South Korea on Netflix will increase in the near future. The world's number one streaming platform has invested $2.5 billion (~RM 11.1 billion) in South Korea today to produce movies and TV series for them.


This is double the investment made in 2016. The announcement was made by President Yoon Suk Yeol and Netflux co-CEO Ted Sarandos. Since investing in South Korea, Netflix has become the streaming platform of choice for content fans from the country.


Starting with Kingdom, Netflix has several series that received warm reception at the global level such as Squid Game, Physical 100 and Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Some original films are also produced specifically for Netflix such as Okja and The Tunnel. South Korea has successfully exported their creative content to the global stage. At the same time, original content from Malaysia on Netflix is dying and dying.
