Sega, the leading game company based in Japan has now officially announced that it intends to take over Rovio at a value of 706 Euros, which is around RM3.4 billion according to the current exchange rate.
Rovio is the company behind the popular game Angry Birds, and several other games. It is estimated that Rovio games alone have been downloaded more than 5 billion times so far, in addition to the Angry Birds game which has been licensed to various other forms of products.
Sega is expected to take over Rovio, and use its expertise to further expand offerings in the mobile gaming arena (first).
With this offer from Sega, it is now awaiting confirmation from Rovio's shareholders, before it also goes through the confirmation process by the local authorities.
