Sonos sued Google two years ago for allegedly using four of its patented technologies without paying royalties. After the case is heard in front of the judge, the same case will now be tried in court.
The judge found only two of the four Sonos patents that Google allegedly infringed were admissible. After being sued, Google counter-sued Sonos, which was also said to be using the technology without permission. In the original accusation, Sonos said the wireless technology for its smart speakers was used by Google in Chromecast products after the two companies had previously collaborated.
Lawsuits were filed in the U.S., the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, and France with Sonos asking the ITC to ban the sale of Google's smart speakers.
