Tesla will officially enter the Malaysian market as they have advertised several job vacancies a few weeks ago. Many questions about the entry of Tesla in Malaysia such as their range of chargers will be offered in Malaysia.
Through a tweet sent by the Minister of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Zahfrul via social media today, he confirmed that Tesla will build at least 50 of their Superchargers in Malaysia within 3 years. Of this amount, around 30% should be usable by other manufacturers' electric vehicles.
With electric vehicles becoming more popular in Malaysia, the issue of lack of charging infrastructure can already be seen. During the festive season, this shortage will delay the travel period as it is well known that unlike ICE vehicles, BEV vehicles take a long time to charge even with ultra-fast chargers.
