The 14th Generation Intel Processing Chip Series Is Meteor Lake

The name of the Meteor Lake processor chip series is already well known, but due to how Intel currently brands their processor chips, it was not previously known whether it would be its own processor chip series, or simply a refresh of the previous generation processor chips.

Recently, Intel seems to have confirmed through documents that the Meteor Lake series of processing chips will be their 14th Intel processing chip series, which, like before, will consist of a series of processing chips for laptops as well as desktops.

What is interesting about this Meteor Lake processing chip is that it is the first Intel processing chip built using the concept of "Disaggregated Tiles" where the components of computing, graphics and I/O chips are built using different construction processes.

The Meteor Lake compute chip will be built by Intel using their Intel 4 (4nm) process, while the graphics chip will be built using the Arc Alchemist chip by TSMC using the N5 (5nm) process while the SoC platform will be built using the N6 process also by TSMC.

For example, one of these Intel Meteor Lake processing chips will come with 14 cores consisting of six performance cores and eight efficiency cores which are seen to maintain the previous performance, but with more efficient power consumption.

Intel is expected to make an announcement or launch this Meteor Lake processing chip for the laptop class in the middle of this year while the processing chip for the desktop is at the end of this year.

However, depending on whether Intel will introduce updates to the Raptor Lake processing chips, the Meteor Lake series of chips may be launched next year. For now, there is no official word on the launch of the latest chip series for now.
