TikTok Is Testing A Feature To Generate Profile Pictures Using AI

A few months ago the feature of generating profile pictures by artificial intelligence (AI) by Lens went viral on social media. Thousands of users create avatars that look like sophisticated digital paintings for free. The popularity of this Lens feature is waning now but it might be provided by TikTok too.

Matt Navarra, who is a social media analyst shared a video showing how this feature is integrated by TikTok in their application. As with Lensa, users need to upload 3-10 photos of their face first as a basis for creating an avatar. TikTok's AI will then ask the user to select 2-5 styles to use for the avatar. Among the styles given are looking like an astronaut, watercolor painting and abstract painting.

Based on the picture uploaded and the style chosen, 30 new avatar pictures will be generated by TikTok. There are also indications that TikTok will roll out Plus subscriptions to users. With Snapchat+ and Twitter Blue showing demand for paid social media services, it's no surprise that TikTok doesn't want to be left behind either. It is not yet known when this feature of generating avatars will be rolled out by TikTok to everyone.
