TSMC Has Difficulty Meeting Apple's 3nm Chip Demand

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company or better known as TSMC is the most important semiconductor chip manufacturing company in the world today because of its technological ability to produce semiconductor chips with the latest technologies.

Recently, TSMC has started manufacturing two series of processing chips for Apple using their latest 3nm process. These chips are A17 Bionic for iPhone 15 Pro devices and Apple M3 for Macbook laptops that will be introduced later.

The CEO of TSMC said that the percentage of processing chips that can be produced and used to use this 3nm process is at the level of 55 percent so far. At the level of development of the manufacturing process so far, a yield of 55 percent is actually quite a good level.

This is because TSMC will increase the yield level by 5 percent every quarter, and in the last quarter of this year, it is expected that the yield of chip production using this process will increase to around 65-70 percent.

But this is still an issue for TSMC because even with increasing production, it still seems to be insufficient to meet the demands of Apple who seem to want to market their latest iPhone and MacBook devices as quickly and as much as possible.

Not only that, in the third quarter of this year, TSMC will not only increase the production of A17 Bionic and M3 chips for Apple, but will also start producing chips for AMD, Intel and NVIDIA. Although Samsung is also seen as capable of manufacturing chips using the 3nm process, TSMC seems to still be the first choice for these technology companies.
