Setel is an application by PETRONAS to make it easier for users to refuel their cars by just using a smartphone. The application started as a digital wallet and has now grown into a super-app because it is packed with interesting features and functions.
The Setel app can pay for street parking, vehicle repair assistance, electric car charging fees, sell used cooking oil, pay retailers with DuitNow QR and more.
This indirectly makes the application more fibrous. Don't get me wrong, the Set app has a user-friendly interface. It's just that when a lot of functions are loaded just open the app sometimes I get dizzy. Especially when I have an emergency and need to fill up quickly, I want an app that I can open right away, select a pump, fill up and then continue on my way.
My complaints were answered when Setel invited me to test Setel Lite. Setel Lite is a lighter Setel app with basic functionality. It's just a digital wallet that you can top up, check Mesra rewards points, Family Wallet and ask for customer service assistance. Not only that, this application is also designed to support basic class devices and users with limited Internet access.
If you compare the installation size of this application on Android, Setel Lite only uses 5.40MB of storage while Setel normal consumes 23.86MB of storage. After installation, Setel Lite only uses 46.43MB of internal device storage and Setel is 78.22MB and can reach hundreds of Megabytes. So this application has no problem being used on old devices or Android devices that have almost run out of internal storage.
Setel Lite is also designed with a "blank" interface with a large typeface. This makes it easier for older users to use it or on the regular app you set Family Wallet and parents or grandparents can easily use Setel Lite while Mesra rewards can still be collected. The receipt is also no problem to see on the application after filling up.
In my tests, I intentionally set the device's Internet access to Edge only and continued to use Set Lite. At first I was a bit worried if it wouldn't work but after about less than 30 seconds of the application loading, it was immediately usable. The application is smooth to use and every section can be accessed without any problems including check balance, top up, customer assistance or even check reward points.
Filling the oil is also easy and headache-free. I just continue to press Purchase Fuel, select the pump number, enter the amount, pay using Setel Wallet (or Family Wallet only two payment methods are supported), continue to fill fuel and after completion the Mesra reward and receipt will be displayed.
With the Setel Lite application you will find it easier and more focused on refueling. You no longer have to search for which part to press or press incorrectly, instead Setel Lite offers direct use. This application is developed for Android and Huawei device users only for now and it is still uncertain if the same application will be offered to iOS users.
For now Setel has not officially announced when Setel Lite will be launched to the public. But according to Nextrift who also had the opportunity to test the Setel Lite application, the application will be launched at the end of April.
