Adobe Firefly is an artificial intelligence (AI) offering from Adobe that focuses on generating images from text, specifically for use in creative content production. Beyond this offering, Adobe is also committed to ensuring the content they generate is ethical and transparent.
Therefore, Adobe has introduced the "Do No Train" tag. This tag can be used by Adobe Cloud users who do not want their original work stored on Adobe cloud storage to be used to train Adobe Firefly.
According to Adobe, this tag will remain on the content no matter when it is used, published or saved. In addition, the integration of Adobe Firefly with existing content in Adobe Stock also ensures that what is generated does not use other users' content.
Not only that, Adobe will also introduce metadata on generated images, stating that the content is AI generated. Adobe also created a compensation model for users who contribute their content through Adobe Stock, for use in AI learning.
With this "Do Not Train" function, it directly shows that Adobe is moving in step with their Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) initiative, in dealing with the problem of sharing information without authentication. The C2PA initiative from Adobe has previously published their first standard that allows digital creators to place meta information on their works and content, as well as track changes made to them. C2PA also has Sony, Leica, Nikon, Microsoft, BBC, ARM, Intel, TruePic and Twitter as members.
Adobe Firefly also plans to leverage various assets, technologies and training data from Adobe and others, to generate better content in the future. In short, what Adobe does is to ensure that the content generated by Adobe Firefly is safe and ethical for commercial use, as well as looking after the welfare of its user community.
