Wouldn't it be easy if the smart phone we already have could be a camera replacement? Not only a replacement for digital cameras, but now smartphones can also be web cameras for computers. But what if I told you that you would no longer need to buy a dash cam for your car?
A dashboard camera or dashcam is in my opinion a must-have accessory if you drive. It helps to record the road situation and if there is an emergency it can be used as a reference material. In the future you can use the Personal Safety feature on Android devices to turn the device into a dashboard camera.
In the Personal Safety app that will be available in native Android devices such as the Pixel or Nothing Phone (1), Google provided the 2023.04.27.532191641.8-dogfood update by mistake. "dogfood" is usually the test phase version. In this update this application adds Dashcam feature.
When this feature is activated the recording will run in the background and the user can still use the device as usual for maps, music and so on. Each recording will only be kept for three days and if not saved the file will be deleted automatically. This feature supports recording up to 24 hours which is 30MB per minute.
This feature is seen to be offered to all Android users as long as there is a Personal Safety and GMS application on the device. When it will be launched is still not confirmed yet. Finally there is the option of using a quality camera for the dashboard camera.
