The International Space Station (ISS) will operate until at least 2030 after Roscosmos agreed to continue cooperation with NASA, ESA, CSA and JAXA. But after that the future of the space station under the government agency became more blurred. Several private companies now have plans to launch their own space stations.
Vast a company from the United States has plans to launch their space station as early as August 2025. The Haven-1 station can house up to 4 astronauts for 20 days. The first module will be launched using a Falcon 9 rocket. It is the first part of the station that will make up the 100 meter long space station.
The other part of the Haven-1 station will be launched using SpaceX's Starship spacecraft. The company's plans are still unclear as the Starship is not yet fully operational with the first launch ending in failure in Texas.
Besides Vast, Blue Origin, Airbus, Spacelab, and The Gateway Foundation are among other private companies that also have plans to build a space station before 2030.
