Artificial intelligence (AI) like ChatGPT helps make work easier by taking over the process of trivial tasks. But there have been incidents of company secret information being accidentally leaked as happened to Samsung. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Apple is another company that is preventing the use of third-party AI in the workplace to avoid the same fate befalling them.
In addition to ChatGPT, Apple employees are also prohibited from using Microsoft-owned GitHub Copilot to write code. Copilot and ChatGPT send data back to OpenAI for processing so there is a possibility that Apple's secrets could be leaked.
Apple's actions are similar to Samsung which not only banned all types of AI by third parties but took drastic steps to develop its own generative AI with the help of Naver in South Korea.
