The ROG Matrix series is rarely offered to the public as it is seen as a limited edition product for hardcore enthusiasts who also have money to spend. At Computex, the ASUS ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090 was shown with it being a graphics card with a liquid metal cooling system. This makes it ASUS's first card with a cooler that is also used on the PlayStation 5.
Liquid metal is used as a thermal interface material (TIM) to allow heat to be transferred more efficiently from the GPU chip to the cooling system plate. The same cooling system plate is connected to the RAM and VRM chips on the motherboard.
With a more efficient cooling system, the RTX 4090 chip used by the ROG Matrix also operates at a higher speed than the stock card. ASUS says it can operate at temperatures of just 60 degrees Celsius even at a TDP of 450W.
In order to further increase the cooling capability, ASUS ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090 also uses a liquid cooling system with a 360mm radiator. This is cooled by three 120mm ROG MF-12S ARGB fans with a built-in RGB system. Pricing has yet to be announced by ASUS but it will certainly be more expensive than the usual RTX 4090 cards that cost over $1600 apiece.
