A Chinese company called iFlytek has released a generative model language AI that will compete with ChatGPT, called SparkDesk.
When showcased at the launch event, there are seven main functions of the chatbot, and it is promised that it will continue to be updated until it is better than ChatGPT in October.
The seven functions include problem solving, logical deduction, coding, and multimodal understanding. This ability is considered very important to have in an AI chatbot, we were quoted as saying from Cgtn, Monday (8/5/2023).
Liu Qingfeng, chairman of iFlytek, demonstrated SparkDesk's ability to grade student essays, compose company emails, and create stories, all of which can be done using voice commands.
"We will continue to update our model. We aim to beat ChatGPT capabilities in Chinese by October 24, and will eventually have similar capabilities in English.
In making text, Liu claims that SparkDesk already has better performance than ChatGPT. Likewise in the ability to answer various knowledge-based questions, as well as the ability to calculate mathematics, in Chinese.
According to Liu, the emergence of this kind of AI will provide new opportunities for traditional jobs. That is being able to empower creative people to become entrepreneurs by relying on the digital economy.
The rapid growth of this AI, apart from being amazing, is also terrible. Even Geoffrey Hinton, an AI development guru, had to resign from Google because he wanted to express his fear of AI in chatbots.
The ability of the AI that worried him the most and potentially the most harm was that they were not biological creatures and would be smarter than humans. "Right now, they are not smarter than us. But I think, maybe soon (they are smarter)," said this man from England.
"I concluded that this type of intelligence is very different from what we have. We are biological systems and they are digital systems. The big difference is that with digital systems, there are many copies of the same model," said the 75-year-old man.
