A software house-based startup consisting of Indonesian students has succeeded in penetrating the Russian market. Surprisingly, this success was only with Instagram Stories.
Fakhrul Arifin Oktavian, a post-graduate student from Bekasi who is currently studying at a well-known university in Russia, tries to share stories about the development of IT learning on his campus via Instagram Story. Unexpectedly, this post got the attention of friends in the campus environment, and it continued to spread to university officials.
Feeling that he received moral support, finally a startup called FaoTech was founded at the end of 2022. Seeing the potential of his fellow Indonesian students and also the high opportunity for the IT market in Russia, Fakhrul started his startup by offering free programming courses from his modest apartment room.
This initial startup project was just to help his friends understand the world of programming and help build their portfolio. Surprisingly, Fakhrul's colleagues later became part of his team and helped FaoTech to expand successfully into the IT market in Russia.
Most recently in early April, FaoTech together with one of the best universities in Russia, Kazan Federal State University, have just released a web-based application to help students prepare to enter the world of work. No kidding, the application has been integrated with one of the largest job search platforms in Russia.
"Fakhrul and his team have succeeded in becoming an important part of a very important project for Kazan Federal University. However, what is more important is not the product they have produced, namely the education program management services at the university, but the collaborative practice that has been carried out together successfully." between lecturers and students," said Sadriev Azat Rafailovich, Head of the Innovation and Investment Department of Kazan State Federal University.
"And substantially, FaoTech is a pilot in our collaborative projects with other students, and opens up new opportunities for technology business projects in the future," said Sadriev.
After successfully working on an educational platform with Kazan Federal State University, FaoTech is currently working on one of the projects of the national policy department of interregional relations and tourism, together with the Moscow city government.
According to Fakhrul, the success of the startup he has built is inseparable from the hard work and dedication of the entire team, which now consists of 7 people including himself. They are Nanda and Zidni as Project Manager and UI/UX Designer, Rivaldo as Back End Engineer, and 4 Front End Engineers namely Firly, Ryan, Alvin and Ilham.
"We thank everyone who has provided support and trust in us. We hope that FaoTech can continue to grow and make a positive contribution to the technology industry in Russia, and be able to encourage the development of the IT world in Indonesia," hoped Fakhrul.
