Google Passkey Enabled to Replace Password

On average, every person on earth has 8.4 social media accounts, each of which needs to have its own password to ensure that it is difficult for hackers to steal. This process is difficult as it needs to be changed frequently to further increase security. Today Google activated Passkey which will replace the need to type a password when wanting to use an account.

Passkey is a password replacement that is also supported by the FIDO Alliance, Apple and Microsoft. Through it the account can be logged in using a fingerprint biometric scan, Face ID or the device's lock screen pin. It's supported on Android and iOS devices starting this morning. Because it uses a biometric system, Passkey is more secure than 2FA systems using SMS which can be intercepted.

Google Passkey can be activated for all Google account holders now by going to g.co/passkeys. Owners can still use the password authentication system and 2FA if necessary because the use of Passkey is not yet mandatory.
