Khan Academy Uses GPT-4 As A Teaching Tutor Not A Tool For Stuttering Students

Today's instructor's challenge is for students to use ChatGPT to write homework that should have been produced by their own sweat. Various systems were developed to track this effort but it was like Sisyphus pushing a rock up a hill every day. Khan Academy this week announced the Khanmigo chatbot which they say uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to teach.

Khamigo based on GPT-4 is an AI that tutors students. When a question is asked it simply helps students to find the right answer themselves instead of feeding them answers like other chatbots. With this AI is used to provide an experience as if each student has a personal tutor who encourages them to learn on their own.

Because it is an AI, Khanmigo can teach students to solve math questions, be a debate partner, and help with the debugging process when using programming programs.

Khamigo applications are now open with those interested put on a waiting list. Those selected will have to pay $20 a month as a donation to Khan Academy to cover operating costs.
