The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, now shared that Malaysia is now on target to achieve 15% electric vehicles by 2030, and then reach 38% electric cars on the road by 2040.
For now, there are still many major challenges to make this happen, including the lack of a complete ecosystem to catalyze the use of electric cars, the price is too high, and there are still not many charging stations.
MOSTI also stated that the government has accepted the willingness of an EV manufacturing company to open an operational factory in Malaysia soon.
Even before this, Proton has expressed its desire to speed up the development and introduction of their electric cars for the Malaysian market.
