Maxis Welcomes the Government's Steps in Implementing the 5G Network in Malaysia

In addition to CelcomDigi, now Maxis also released an official statement, saying that they welcome the government's decision to focus on DNB until it reaches a coverage rate of 80% in populated areas, before being followed by the implementation of 5G through dual networks.

Maxis stated that they are committed to working together to accelerate the implementation of 5G in Malaysia.

Maxis added that the introduction of the second network is expected to begin in the second phase, where Maxis looks forward to a more direct role in the implementation of 5G in Malaysia.

The government has previously announced that it will be present with a dual 5G network by 2024, after successfully achieving an 80% coverage rate under DNB. The composition of the service providers in the two dual network providers is expected to be decided later.

For now, only Maxis does not offer 5G network access to their customers, as they have not signed any agreement with DNB for 5G network access.
