The concept of a bouncy chair that throws a pilot out of an airplane has been around since 2010. In the early stages bungee cords were used but with jet planes getting faster, a faster, safer and more reliable system to save lives was developed by the Martin-Baker firm. Because the pilot is ejected using a rocket explosion, the G-force on the body can reach 14 times gravity.
Bremont a watch company has launched the MB Viper which is a watch that is guaranteed to still work after being thrown out of a plane using an ejection seat. It is a jam song in the Martin Baker series released by Bremont. The Viper got its name because it was tested using the F-16 Viper aircraft. Each watch is made of grade 5 titanium and the strap is made of durable canvas.
With a durable construction it also passes standards for diving up to 100 meters, is frozen during rapid ascent in an airplane, and is seawater resistant. The ENG300 mechanism used has built-in shock absorbers that allow it to continue working after receiving large G-forces and maintain accurate time. It can also store power for up to 65 hours.
A total of 300 MB Viper threads will be produced each for $5,995 (~RM27,212).
