MediaTek Chips Will Reportedly Use NVIDIA GPUs Next Year

MediaTek's image as a cheap but troubled chip maker faded after their Dimensity series of chips began to be offered for mobile phones. If there is one shortcoming of the MediaTek chip at this time is that the graphics performance is still not comparable to the Snapdragon chip. According to a report from DigiTimes Asia, the performance of their chips will improve because they use GPUs produced by NVIDIA.

Citing internal sources, MediaTek chips with NVIDIA GPUs will arrive as early as 2024. Initially, they will be used in chips for flagship smartphones and tablets as well as for use in Chromebook computers. Detailed information about the GPU from which series will be used is not yet known.

Samsung for example has just continued its collaboration with AMD to use the RDNA 3 GPU on the more powerful Exynos chip. Samsung and AMD's first collaboration was less successful but a Galaxy-specific Eyxnos chip is currently under development.
