Meta Is Developing Its Own Chip For AI

Meta recently announced that they are developing their own special chip just for artificial intelligence. This chip which is MTIA which means Meta Training and Inference Accelerator is a chip to process the power of artificial intelligence that they develop.

According to Meta, this MTIA chip when matched with a GPU can provide the best performance, less downtime and have an efficient workforce. This chip will only be operational in 2025.

In addition to its own chip, Meta is also developing technology for video which is MSVP which means Meta Scalable Video Processor. This technology is to process videos on their platforms like Facebook for less lag as well as processing time for faster streaming. This MSVP can also help AI, AR and VR content be loaded into Meta applications in the future.

Meta also announced that they are developing a new generation data center that will be optimized with artificial intelligence. This data center is also said to be faster and cost-effective to build. They also claim that their supercomputer, the RSC Research SuperCluster, is one of the most powerful artificial intelligence supercomputers in the world.
