Microsoft Reportedly Working With AMD For AI Chip Development

Microsoft was previously said to be looking at the development of its own artificial intelligence chip in an effort to reduce operating costs. Now, an extended report has surfaced via Bloomberg, saying Microsoft is working with AMD to that end.

Microsoft is said to be helping AMD financially in its own artificial intelligence chip development initiative.

The chip, which is currently under development with AMD, is given the code name "Athena", and is said to be able to be used in training various models involving artificial intelligence, in addition to making inferences for new data.

Today, the chip market for the use of artificial intelligence is led by NVIDIA. However, the high cost also makes the development involving artificial intelligence affected and leads to high costs. Because of this, various parties are looking at the development of separate chips that will allow more optimization to be done, as well as reduce costs.
