Microsoft Study Finds 62% Of Malaysian Workers Are Worried About Being Replaced By AI

Microsoft Malaysia today published their 2023 Job Index Trends report for Malaysia. Malaysia is one of 31 countries involved in a study on the direction of work involving 31,000 respondents. Among the issues that are hotly talked about by the workers are about the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the use of time and how the job landscape will change in the near future.

A total of 62% of respondents involved in this year's study voiced concerns that their work will be replaced by AI. But 84% of respondents also admitted that they use AI as much as possible to reduce their daily workload. It was also found that managers feel that AI is very useful to increase productivity and is better than being used to reduce the workforce.

Employees in the same study, 77% of respondents also complained of not having enough time and energy to complete work. In this case inefficient meetings are the main reason productivity is interrupted in the workplace.

Finally, 76% of respondents in Malaysia admitted that they did not have the proper ability to complete the work. Microsoft says collaboration between humans and AI will be among the skills employees need to have.

Synergy between humans and AI will likely become the new norm in the near future. This may be one of the factors why Microsoft integrated AI into all their products in the last two months under the CoPilot system.
