Titanic is a ship that has legendary status. When it was launched it was said to be unsinkable because it has two layers of body and uses the latest technology. But it sank on April 14, 1914 with the loss of 1500 lives. Interest in the Titanic resurfaced after it was discovered by Dr Robert Ballard in 1985 and James Cameron's film in 1997.
Now for the first time the most detailed 3D model has been produced using 715,000 photographs taken during the expedition carried out in the summer of 2022. This most accurate model is the effort of Magellan Limited in collaboration with Atlantic Productions who published a new documentary about the Titanic.
The process of capturing hundreds of thousands of pictures was done over a period of six weeks with Magellan going down to a depth of 3800 meters to take pictures. 17 Terabytes of data in the form of 4k photos and videos were taken throughout this expedition. The result is that for the first time the Titanic's true appearance can be clearly seen to allow a more detailed study to be seen by researchers.
