Netflix has previously stated that it will combat account sharing with users who do not live together in the same household. Now, through an email sent by Netflix to Malaysian users, it is seen that the popular streaming service provider has taken the first step in combating password sharing with those who do not live in the same housing.
Netflix emphasizes which Netflix accounts are for household use only. However, there are a number of users who share passwords despite sitting far apart and not from the same family. Now, in the fight against it, Netflix comes with some alternatives to users.
First, Netflix now allows users to transfer profiles by downloading and transferring to a new account on Netflix.
Or as another alternative, users can continue to share a Netflix account with those who do not live together, but for an additional fee of RM13 per month. This additional payment to the existing plan will allow these additional accounts to have their own accounts and passwords – and no longer need to share passwords.
For the time being, it is not yet known what the effect will be on password sharing for those outside the household - whether access will be blocked or the like.
So, for you, would you pay an extra RM13 a month to share a password with a friend who lives far away or away from home?
