The Nikon Z8 has been officially launched as a new compact mirrorless camera designed specifically for content creators. In general, most of the specifications are the same as the previous Nikon Z9. But its body is said to be 30% smaller and 15% larger which makes it easy to carry anywhere.
The camera is equipped with a 45.7 megapixel full-frame stacked CMOS sensor combined with an EXPEED 7 processing chip for exceptional image quality. Next it is also advertised as capable of recording 4K ProRes HDR 12-bit 60FPs video or up to 8K 60P which uses Nikon's N-RAW format with a 50% smaller file size. The Z8 can also record approximately 125 minutes in 4KUHD/60P and approximately 90 minutes in 8K UHD/30P.
Also included is the Portrait Impression Balance function for constant control of human skin tone reproduction. At the same time, the function of Skin Softening and white balance has also now been improved. In addition there are also other features such as improved N-Log and HLG RAW, adjustable AF speed tracking, 4-bit stereo audio and so on.
The camera can also be used with a variety of XLR professional microphones using the Tascam Digital Adapter. Then there are also two USB-C ports available for charging and accessories. Meanwhile, wireless connection can be done using bluetooth and Wi-Fi 5 GHz.
There are also additional accessories specific to the battery that are available separately. A 2.4″ LCD touch screen that can be moved on four axes is also used for the purpose of flexibility for multi-angle recording. The selling price starts at $3,999.95 (~RM17,980) while the battery accessories are offered at $349.95 (~RM1,573). This camera is also confirmed to be coming to the Malaysian market, which further information will be revealed on May 22.
