Last January when PRISM+ launched their physical store at IOI City Mall Putrajaya, they stated that existing PRISM+ televisions will be updated to Google TV from Android TV.
But with today's launch of the PRISM+ Q Series 4K Ultra QLED that all changes. Google TV will only arrive on new televisions. Meaning if users want to use Google TV on their televisions you can only use them on Q55 Ultra, Q65 Ultra and/or Q75 Ultra televisions.
Those other televisions still running Android TV will remain with that operating system. When asked why, a PRISM+ representative simply stated that the software development teams differ between Android TV and Google TV and that Google TV televisions are for newer offerings, the latest technology, and more premium categories.
Not only that, in the future PRISM+ may still offer Android TV television and will not continue to offer Google TV depending on the current market and public demand. Their Android TVs are also said to still receive security patch updates to protect customers and continue to provide the best user experience compared to competitors.
