Outperforming Xbox, PlayStation 5 Sold 15 Million Units

A report from VGChartz reveals that sales of PlayStatoin 5 (PS5) have surpassed Xbox by 15 million units during 2023. Currently, PS5 has a total market share of around 62.7%, and Xbox Series only 37.3%.

This is a significant sales decline for the company. Thus Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said that it was not a big problem for him, according to him it was more important to maintain players in the Xbox ecosystem.

While Xbox has failed to build a strong community with exclusives, it does bring a very interesting service to life like Game Pass. This service offers a huge catalog of games and can be accessed by paying a monthly fee.

One of the main attractions of Games Pass is the many game titles that came immediately when the service launched on its first day. Game Pass is not only available for Xbox consoles but also for PCs, and Android and iOS devices via Cloud Streaming.

On the other hand, this is an impressive achievement for Sony considering that the company only has one next-generation console in the market.

Microsoft owns the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. The latter is a direct rival to the PS5 with powerful hardware, while the Xbox Series S is a budget-friendly next-gen console.

The S series cuts a few corners but can still offer some next-generation features like high resolution, refresh rates and even ray tracing.

The less expensive consoles are especially attractive to those looking to enter a new generation and don't want to pay the price for a "premium" version. It has some limitations such as 512GB SSD storage, but users can expand.
