Photo of a Brain Scan of a Person Addicted to Pornography Turns Out to be a Hoax

So far, photos circulating that claim to be brain scans of people who are addicted to pornography. As it turned out, the narrative of the photo was just an invention by someone. The person used a single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) photo, which was originally dirty, then modified with color and given a frightening narrative.

SPECT is an imaging test that can give a picture when blood is flowing to tissues and organs. This scan can be used to diagnose seizures, strokes, stress fractures, infections, and tumors in the spine.

In the viral image, it is narrated that there are three forms of brain, the first is the brain of a normal person, then there is the brain of a person who uses heroin, and the third is the brain of a person who consumes pornography.

According to Medium, Friday (5/5/2023) the scattered photos have been taken from a SPECT study by Daniel Amen. However, the scan has no color, so it could be that the colors in the circulating photos are edited.

According to Medium's search, the photo was misused as 'evidence' of the dangers of pornography addiction being made viral by the Conquer Series website. Conquer Series turns out to be selling, claiming it can help intervene to escape pornography with its own method.

In short, this image that has been widely circulated as evidence of pornography addiction is simply not true. No one can really prove the scans were actually taken for porn addiction studies
