Since these two weeks, a lot of content from Malaysia has been offered on Prime Video. On the side of the road Prime Video ads appear for the first time after a long time dominated only by Netflix, Disney+ Hostar and Viu. This is all due to Prime Video announcing that it will increase investment to publish original content in Malaysia.
With increased investment two series That Cover Girl and Budak Flat are confirmed to arrive on Prime Video this year. These two Malaysian productions will also be offered to several other markets around the world.
Although it has been operating in Malaysia since 2016, there is not much local original content on offer compared to Disney+ Hotstar and Netflix. Hopefully this will give a new lease of life to the Malaysian publishing industry which has been directly affected by the pandemic over the past three years.
