With the development of the automotive arena, many are now looking at new energy vehicle (NEV) offerings. At the launch of the PROTON X90 model today, Geely also shared their plans to introduce at least one NEV vehicle model under Proton, every year.
For this purpose, Geely will share expertise and technology and support PROTON. Geely also stated which will help in forming over 5000 PROTON talents in the NEV arena in the next five years, as well as enabling PROTON to become a leader in the NEV vehicle arena in the ASEAN region.
It is also targeted to come with a comprehensive ecology for NEVs in Malaysia in the coming years.
For starters, the first step for him is the launch of the Proton X90 which is powered by a mild hybrid version of the 1.5TGDI engine, followed by the introduction of smart #1 by PRO-NET in the fourth quarter of 2023 in Malaysia.
