Previously there was a report of Samsung's secret information being leaked after employees used ChatGPT using the company's computer. Today Bloomberg reports that Samsung has issued a memo to staff to stop using artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Bard to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
This will present a challenge to Samsung staff as the company wants to use technology like ChatGPT on their output devices as TM Roh confirmed to us a few months ago. If AI can't be used with work computers, how will it be better integrated into future products?
The use of artificial intelligence in the form of chatbots is now normal to speed up tasks in the office. Many may not realize that this entered input will then be stored by developers such as OpenAI to train the next generation of AI. Because of this when entered into the database, secrets may be accidentally leaked.
This is the basis for why in the European Union (EU) a new bill is being formed to ensure that users' personal data is not used carelessly, without permission and given the option to be deleted. In the race to develop AI, the ethical risks of data use and harm to humans are rarely discussed. As with all new technologies, a look-before-you-go approach is probably the wiser choice for all.
