Sharp Aquos R8 And Aquos R8 Pro Launched With Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chip


 Sharp Aquos R8 and Aquos R8 Pro have been officially launched. It becomes a new flagship device class that replaces the previous Sharp Aquos R7. At the same time, this introduction also has a Pro variant that was announced together.



Starting with the Sharp Aquos R8 Pro, it uses a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ Pro IGZO OLED screen with an adaptive 240Hz refresh rate and supports Dolby Vision content. This is matched with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with a combination of 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS4.0 internal storage. Next, the device also supports the latest Android 13 operating system with updates up to 3 years for the system and 5 years for security.



The main camera used consists of a 1-inch 47.2MP Sony IMX989 sensor as well as a Summicron lens developed with Leica. This is combined also with a 14 CH spectrum sensor. HDR image recording speed performance is also said to be 40% better than the previous model. Then there are also built-in special modes like sky and fireworks, in addition to a 12.6MP selfie camera.


Complementing this device is also a 5,000mAh battery with a wired and wireless fast charging system whose output power is not disclosed. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanning system is also built into the main screen, alongside several other features such as a 3.5 audio jack, bluetooth 5.3, a built-in 5G network and stereo speakers.



Further Sharp Aquos R8 also shares most of the same internal hardware with the pro version. The only significant difference lies in the size of the main screen which is 6.6-inches with FHD+ resolution. Then Aquos R8 also has a 50.3MP 1/1.55 inch main camera with a Hektor lens that is also produced with Leica. The main camera also supports a 13MP ultra-wide camera, in addition to an 8MP selfie camera and a 4570mAh battery.


No retail price for either device has been revealed for now.
