Tesla Bot Can Now Run On Its Own And Operate In A Factory

A human-shaped prototype of the Tesla Bot robot was shown by Elon Musk in October last year. At the event the Tesla Bot was not shown in a complete state and needed to be cabled to run safely. After more than six months of its rather disappointing introduction, Tesla shared the progress of their robot this week.

In an official video shared on YouTube, the Tesla Bot is shown to be able to walk slowly without any cables. The ability to walk in a group is also shown. Among other abilities is doing tasks in the factory and following the movement of people holding objects in their hands. The system recognizes and maps the controls it runs on is also shown in the shared video.

Tesla Bot movement is still not fast enough or smooth when compared to Atlas by Boston Dynamics. Atlas is very agile because he can jump, run up stairs, and do somersaults. His ability to work on a construction site was also demonstrated last January.

If this latest Tesla video is anything to go by, Tesla Bots will need more time before they can replace human workers in Tesla factories as Elon Musk wants.
