The Government Is Studying The Road Tax Structure For Electric Vehicles

 

The Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke has now stated that the government through the Ministry of Transport is studying the road tax structure for electric vehicles. This new structure is expected to be introduced as early as the end of 2023.

Previously, the government had declared a tax exemption for electric vehicles until 2025. Many users and buyers of electric vehicles are worried about the road tax structure that will be introduced later - considering that using the old formula or structure, it could reach up to RM5,000 a year.

For now, the new structure is in the study stage, and it will also take into account a number of things, including encouraging people to switch to low-carbon vehicles.
