The government is expected to fully dispose of its holdings in Digital Nasional Berhad as early as 2024, in parallel with the implementation of the 5G dual network model.
Sharing about it, the SKMM Chief Operating Officer stated that Entity A will take over DNB and will continue its operations, in parallel with the start of Entity B which is expected in 2024. The government will dispose of the holding completely when it reaches this phase, simultaneously making Entity A and also Entity B a a completely private entity.
With both operating as private entities without government holdings, it will show healthy competition with each other, while also expected to bring benefits to users in terms of supply and network quality.
DNB is expected to continue operating as the sole provider of 5G networks until it reaches 80% of populated areas in Malaysia.
