Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) today apologized via Twitter for the mistake that made the data of more than 11,000 candidates exposed to the internet arena.
This apology comes as a follow-up to the sharing of one of the Twitter users who showed the data of a large number of UiTM candidates which can be accessed publicly - at the same time showing the names, identification card numbers and also the e-mails of the candidates.
Access to this data is seen to be shared with the candidates involved, allowing candidates to check personal info and details. However, this step is very wrong for organizations to do – leading to public disclosure of data belonging to others.
A total of 11891 records were exposed through this UiTM partnership. Through an apology, UiTM also stated that it has turned off access to the link, and it is no longer active.
