Valve has finally revealed the location for the largest Dota 2 tournament in the world, The International 12 (TI 12). They will hold it in their hometown, in Seattle, Washington, United States for the first time since 2017.
"The International returns to Seattle this October. The world's best Dota team will once again compete for Aegis of Champions, this time at the Climate Pledge Arena, welcoming the largest crowd in the history of the event," wrote Valve, quoted on our official website, Sunday (14/5 /2023).
Valve stated that this competition will begin with the TI 12 group stage, which starts on October 14, 2023. Only then will the playoffs continue on Friday, October 27, 2023, and will finish on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
"We will be announcing ticket information and more details on The Road to the International as we get closer to the event," Valve promises.
The International is a regular tournament held by Valve every year. Usually this event offers a total initial prize of USD 1.6 million or around IDR 23 billion.
But as time goes by, the numbers will get bigger. This is due to the increase in ticket purchases for Dota 2 battles, and it is one of the most profitable events in the industry.
The previous tournament, which was held in Singapore, had a very large prize pool. Even the only champion at that time, Tundra Esports, took home a prize worth USD 8,489,505 .
Now the Climate Pledge Arena is the largest venue ever used in the history of The International. The seating capacity is very large, because it can accommodate 17 thousand to 18 thousand spectators.
This year's Dota 2 competition is expected to be an interesting event. It's not that many teams have been predictably successful over the past year, but rather that this game represents the big changes Valve has made.
