Wear OS 4 Will Finally Support Backup And Restore

At the Google I/O 2023 event early this morning, Google also announced the arrival of Wear OS 4. It is quite disappointing that a new version was announced while Wear OS 3 has not been widely distributed even though it has been two years since this operating system was launched.

According to Google Wear OS 4 is currently only available in demo form for developers to test and will only arrive to users sometime this year. This is most likely specific to Pixel Watch users. Wear OS 4 is said to focus on battery life and finally support performing backups and restores to easily use the watch on different devices.

In addition to Wear OS 4, Google also announced improvements to the existing Wear OS such as supporting Gmail and Google Calendar so that users no longer need to rely on notifications alone to interact. Google Home will also be integrated directly and WhatsApp will arrive in stable form soon. Spotify DJ will also have its own tile on Wear OS watches.

For the time being Google is still not telling what the specifications of the watch are and which watches will receive the Wear OS 4 update and the new features announced. But it's a good idea not to have high hopes that the watch you're wearing now will receive this update. TicWatch Pro 3, Pro 3 Ultra and TicWatch E have been waiting for an update for almost a year and are still delayed.
