WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will make it easier for users to switch iPhones without worrying about losing their chat history. This new feature allows users to transfer chats to another iPhone without the need to use iCloud.
This new feature was discovered by WABetaInfo in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 23.9.072. Currently this feature can be tasted by a few lucky beta testers and will be rolled out to more beta testers in the next few weeks.
From the screenshots uploaded by WABetaInfo, there will be a new option in the WhatsApp settings, namely 'Transfer Chats to iPhone'. This option can be accessed in WhatsApp Settings then Chats.
As the name implies, this feature allows WhatsApp users on iPhone to move their chat history to another iPhone without relying on iCloud backups.
WABetaInfo said that users simply need to download the WhatsApp application on their new iPhone, enter the same phone number that has been registered, and use the old iPhone to scan the QR code displayed on the new iPhone.

According to WABetainfo, this new feature will be very helpful for users who cannot save all their chats to iCloud due to space limitations. As is known, Apple only provides 5GB of free storage and users must pay if they want to get more storage.
"With this feature, users can move their chat history and media files easily to the new iPhone, even if they have exceeded the iCloud storage limit: this feature does not depend on iCloud but will transfer chat history privately using the built-in feature," said WABetaInfo, as quoted by us, Saturday (6/5/2023).
In addition to users on iOS, WhatsApp is also developing a similar feature for its application on Android. The difference is, WhatsApp users on Android will be able to transfer chats to other phones without having to rely on Google Drive.
WhatsApp also recently launched a new version of the multi-device feature, where users can access one WhatsApp account on up to four other cellphones simultaneously.
